Lucknow: The district malaria officer of Unnao, Ramesh Chandra Yadav, was caught red-handed by the vigilance establishment while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Monday. According to police, KK Gupta, a biologist in the filariasis control unit of Unnao, filed a written complaint against Yadav. Gupta claimed that Yadav requested a bribe of Rs 10,000 in exchange for approving his medical leave. Following Gupta's complaint to the senior superintendent of police and the UP vigilance establishment, it was confirmed that Yadav was indeed seeking a bribe. On the day of the incident, Yadav received the money from Gupta at the district malaria office in Unnao and was apprehended by the vigilance team. The vigilance establishment has lodged a case against Yadav under relevant sections at the UP vigilance station in Lucknow, and legal action is underway. Officials emphasized that the vigilance establishment is committed to combatting corruption and encouraged citizens to report any instances of bribery by public officials to the anti-corruption helpline at 9454401866.
